Hi Folks,
Just came back from a short visit to the Ebro delta, where I saw Flamingos walking on water. Made me remember the short string on this matter on paleonet.
Actually, the group of birds was wading through shallow lake water about 2 to 3 hundred meters away with the water/air interface slightly blurred by initial looming. Certainly, even 2K years ago people from Africa/Near East new what a mirage is, but I think a tiny bit of phantasy easily does the trick. At least to me, this sounds more likely than the ice hypothesis.
Cheers and Happy Easter,
Niko
