Job responsibilities: Managing editorial process for PRI’s flagship
scientific periodical, Bulletins of American Paleontology (begun
in 1895 and the oldest paleontological journal in the western
hemisphere), as well as Palaeontographica Americana (begun in
1916); designing and implementing efforts to convert/expand one or both
of these periodicals to electronic format; managing editorial, design,
and production processes for PRI’s quarterly magazine, American
Paleontologist (begun in 1992); managing the Institution’s other
publishing activities, including Special Publications and a growing
partnership with Cornell University Press. Works with other staff to seek
external funding, solicit and manage advertising, and increase
circulation for the Institution's entire publications program.
Qualifications: Masters degree or higher in geology, biology, or other
relevant discipline; and significant editorial experience.
Salary: $35,000-$40,000 depending on experience.
