Norm MacLeod *************************** Postdoctoral Researcher, Angiosperm Leaf Architecture Pennsylvania State University, University Park We seek a botanist to investigate the phylogenetic distribution of leaf architectural character states among the angiosperms, making extensive use of the National Cleared Leaf Collection in the Division of Paleobotany at the Smithsonian Institution and other resources. The major goal of this project is to quantify homology and convergence across the angiosperms to determine character states with diagnostic value for identifying fossil leaves. The position is located at Penn State but will also involve significant time at the Smithsonian Institution; the supervisors are Drs. Peter Wilf, Penn State, and Scott L. Wing, Smithsonian Institution. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in plant morphology and phylogenetic methods, a major interest in angiosperm history and evolution, and a record of high research productivity. Applicants should have a recent Ph.D. in an appropriate discipline prior to start. The position is for one year, with possibility of renewal for up to three years. To apply, send a cover letter with contact information for three references, a full cv, and up to three reprints, by April 1, 2006 to pwilf@psu.edu. Penn State is committed to affirmative action, equal opportunity, and the diversity of its workforce. Peter Wilf John T.
