Dear Paleontologists of the World: The International Palaeontological Association is the official representative for the palaeontological sciences on the global scene, especially to the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS) and the International Union of Biological Sciences (IUBS). Other essential activities include sponsorship of International Palaeontological Congresses and publication of free online directories at http://ipa.geo.ku.edu. The IPA aims to promote and coordinate international cooperation in palaeontology and to encourage the integration and synthesis of all palaeontological knowledge. IPA ANNUAL REPORT 2005: The Annual Report of IPA for 2005 is available on the IPA web site: http://ipa.geo.ku.edu. IPC2006: The IPA wishes to draw the attention of all paleontologists to the Second International Palaeontological Congress (IPC 2006) to be held in Beijing, China, 17-21 June 2006. The IPA is co-sponsoring IPC2006 with the China Association of Science and Technology, the Chinese Academy of Science, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Palaeontological Society of China, the Geological Society of China, and the China Geological Survey. Full details are on the website at [http://www.ipc2006.ac.cn]. The deadline for abstracts is 1 March. The conference theme is 'Ancient Life and Modern Approaches' and there will be a wide variety of plenary sessions, general and topical symposia, short courses, workshops and special group meetings. The program will also feature mouth-watering field excursions to the fossil sites that have helped Chinese paleontology to grab so many headlines in recent years. This conference will be a major event, so please don't miss the opportunity to get informed and involved. We look forward to meeting all of you there. IPC2006 T23: "PALEO PARKS" At IPC2006 the International Palaeontological Association is sponsoring the Topical Symposium T23: "Paleo Parks" on the conservation of outstanding fossil sites.
