I was Norm Sohl's research assistant in the early stages of my career.  I have a small set of some of his publications if that would be of use.  As several other people have mentioned, Warren Allmon at PRI is the expert on Turritellidae.  Do you know the approximate age of the specimen?  Norm's work was primarily Mesozoic - Warren's Tertiary.  Also, if you're doing a search, the genus Turritella is Cenozoic.  The subgenus Haustator was elevated to genus level for the Mesozoic members of the group.
