paleonet 9th Symposium on Mesozoic Terrestrial Ecosystems and Biota

9th Symposium on Mesozoic Terrestrial Ecosystems and Biota
June 2006. Manchester UK

Call for Abstracts

The 9th Symposium on Mesozoic Terrestrial Ecosystems will take place at the
University of Manchester from June 27th to June 29th, 2006. This
international meeting will provide a forum for palaeontologists and
geologists working on different aspects of Mesozoic continental ecosystems
to meet and exchange ideas and information.

The symposium will consist of three days of scientific presentations
(plenary speakers, regular platform presentations, and posters). Preference
will be given to those contributions that focus on the broader implications
of Mesozoic biotas (e.g, overviews of particular clades or biotas,
palaeoenvironments, palaeobiogeography, etc), rather than narrower
descriptive studies. A symposium volume containing the meeting abstracts and
short papers will be published and distributed at the meeting.

We hereby invite submission of abstracts from those intending to participate
in the meeting, whether as platform or poster presenters. The body of the
abstract should be limited to 250 words (no figures, no references) and
should present concrete and original research results rather than vague
statements relating to work in progress. Electronic submission of abstracts
is mandatory. Abstracts should include full contact information for all
listed authors (i.e., address, e-mail) and should have the following format:
Title, Authors (Surname, Initials), Addresses, Text, each beginning on a new
line. Abstracts should be submitted as Word documents, single-spaced,
left-hand justification for the text only, and Title, authors and addresses
centred.

Deadline for submission is 3rd June 2005

Authors may submit only one first-authored abstract for platform
presentations, though multiple submissions are acceptable for poster
contributions. Abstracts will be peer-reviewed for suitability and will be
used to allot platform vs. poster slots. Authors will be contacted in late
June/early July regarding the status of their presentation.

Abstracts should be submitted to either Paul Barrett or Susan Evans at the
addresses listed below.
