Greetings: 140 years since serious fieldwork began in the John Day Basin of Oregon, at last a field station and visitor facility has been constructed. It's about time. August 13th, 2005 will be the day of the formal dedication of the new Thomas Condon Paleontology Center at John Day Fossil Beds National Monument. There will be several associated activities, as well. To help us compile a thorough mailing list, if you think you might be interested in attending or simply want to be on the list to recieve a "formal" invitation, please reply directly to me at this address: joda_paleontology@nps.gov and we'll add you to the growing spreadsheet! Anyone interested is welcome to attend; the invitations will include registration information, opportunities to sign up for a dinner the night before, lodging (such as is around here) information, and the like. Expect more than one opportunity for quaffing beverages, meeting dignitaries (such as are around Washington, DC), and so forth. cheers Ted __________________________________________ Theodore Fremd Paleontologist, John Day Fossil Beds Science Advisor, Pacific West Region U.S. National Park Service Ted_Fremd@nps.gov TFremd@darkwing.uoregon.edu 541-987-2333 x 19 32651 Highway 19, Kimberly, OR 97848 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
