Title: 2nd Urbino Summer School in Paleoclimatology (25
July-5 Au
Course Topic: The Cenozoic Record of Paleoclimate Change:
Reconstruction & Modelling Techniques
This course is focused on Cenozoic records
of climate and paleoceanographic change, highlighting how knowledge of
the various mechanisms of climatic change can constrain our thinking
about future climate change and for predictive models. In particular,
we aim to provide an understanding of: (1) the forces that drive
Earth's atmospheric and oceanic evolution; (2) how ancient
paleoceanographic change can be reconstructed using various proxy
methods; and (3) the important questions currently being asked in the
field of paleoclimatology and their significance to present and future
climate change.
The school will consist of lectures
by experts in various aspects of paleoclimatology including
age-models, biological paleoceanography , micropaleontology,
geochemistry, physical paleoceanography, and climate modelling.
Students will carry out practical exercises.
Closing date for applications is 15 April 05.
