The double volume of "Géologie mediterranéenne" (tome XXV - numbers 3-4),
the latest issue of this serial geoscience journal, is  dedicated to the
Lower Aptian in its historical stratotypic area. This special issue, titled
"Le stratotype historique de l'Aptien inférieur (Bédoulien) dans la région
de Cassis - La Bédoule (S.E. France)", consists of 23 articles in French or
in English by 24 authors whose contributions make up a rather thick volume
of 298 pages. The articles cover various aspects of stratigraphy,
sedimentology and  geochemistry, along with studies of ammonites and other
constituents of the macrofauna,  and of foraminifera, nannofossils,
palynology, etc.
