This just in. ---------- Vertebrate Paleontologist The Cleveland Museum of Natural History invites applicants for the position of Curator and Head of the Vertebrate Paleontology Department. The position will begin no earlier than 1 July 2004. The curator will be responsible for collection, preservation, and computerized cataloging of vertebrate fossils. She or he will oversee use of the vertebrate paleontology collection which is particularly strong in Devonian arthrodires and sharks, but also includes Paleozoic amphibians, Pleistocene mammals, dinosaurs, and other taxa. The Curator will also be responsible for publishing original, specimen-based research on fossil vertebrates in the Museum's journal and other publications. The Curator will also be responsible for service to the Museum (exhibits, public relations, interacting with the general public and various media) and maintain an active presence in the scientific community. A Ph.D. in a relevant field and specimen-based publications in vertebrate paleontology are required for the position. Applicants specializing in Paleozoic fossil fish are especially welcome; however, applicants specializing in Paleozoic amphibians, Pleistocene mammals, or dinosaurs, are also encouraged.
