Does anybody have an explanation of the function of the interpremaxillary
foramen in temnospondyls (e.g. Archegosaurus decheni, Rewanobatrachus [=
Parotosuchus, Watsonisuchus] aliciae)? And is there any reason to believe
that this structure is homologous to the internarial foramen (fenestra) in
rhinesuchids (e.g. Rhineceps nyasensis)?
Thanks, fjl
