NEXT EPA-WORKSHOP 2003
EXCEPTIONAL PRESERVATION

The next European Palaeontological Association Workshop will be held 
in Teruel (Spain). Fundación Conjunto Paleontológico de Teruel
from the 24th  to the 27th September, 2003


Oral presentations will be given by invited speakers, including 
doctors Derek E.G. Briggs, Simon Conway Morris, Angela Delgado 
Buscalioni, Eladio Liñán, David Martill, Xavier Martínez Delclós and 
David Unwin. All interested in any aspect of exceptional preservation 
are encouraged to present their research as posters.  Designated 
poster sessions including an opportunity for discussion are included 
in the programme. No other activities, including oral presentations, 
will be scheduled during the poster sessions.

Programme of events

24th September 2003.
a) Madrid. Inscription and informal meeting at the Museo Nacional de 
Ciencias Naturales (CSIC) (10:00 to 13:00). EPA participants will 
have special access to the extensive collections of exceptionally 
preserved fossils held by the Museum (please, indicate your intention 
to participate mailing to bego@mncn.csic.es). 
Trip to Teruel (departure: 16 h.).
b) Teruel. Inscription at the Palacio de Exposiciones. Visit to 
Dinopolis

25th September. 
Oral presentations, poster sessions, opening ceremony, EPA General 
Assembly

26th September. 
Oral presentations, poster sessions, closing ceremony

27th September.
Excursion to Teruel continental Miocene sites with exceptionally 
preserved fossils (Libros and Rubielos de Mora).

Abstracts should not exceed four typewritten A4 pages.  The title 
should be in capitals, bold, 14 point, and centred, and the name(s) 
and affiliation(s) of the author(s) in 12 point and centred below the 
title.
Use Times New Roman, 12 pt. font, and single spacing for the text. 
Title, author and main body of the text are separated by single lines.

Authors who have registered and paid the fees and whose abstracts for 
the Poster Session are received before the 31st of June, 2003, will 
be entered in a draw.  Five abstracts will be selected at random, and 
the senior author of each will receive free registration. Deadline 
for inscription and abstract/s submission: 5th September.


FIELD TRIP TO LIBROS AND RUBIELOS DE MORA (TERUEL)

We will visit the old sulphur mines of Minas de Libros, at which an 
exceptionally preserved fauna including frogs and insects, and plants 
has been recovered from Miocene in age oil shales.  Similar oil 
shales at Rubielos de Mora also host an exceptionally preserved 
biota; we will visit a series of localities and the local satellite 
paleontological museum.
