paleonet possible changes to North American Stratigraphic Code

The North American Commission on Stratigraphic Nomenclature would like to
call two (2) proposed amendments to the North American Stratigraphic Code
to the attention of all interested parties.

Note 63 of the Commission deals with inconsistencies and clarifications of
selected portions of the Code. It also replaces the old article on
publication with a new one allowing electronic publication of stratigraphic
units. This note was published in the AAPG Bulletin, v. 85, no. 2
(February 2001), p. 372-375 and may be viewed online:
http://www.aapg.org/datasystems/0366/0366.htm

Note 64 of the Commission is a complete revision of the section on
biostratigraphic units. It was published in the AAPG Bulletin, v. 85, no.
2 (February 2001), p. 366-371 and may be viewed online:
http://www.aapg.org/datasystems/0372/0372.htm

Votes on the proposed amendments will be held at the Commission's Annual
Meeting in Denver in October, 2002. All comments on the proposed
amendments should be sent to the Commission in the next month or so in
order to be considered fully in October.

The entire North American Stratigraphic Code is available online:
