REVISED DEADLINE For those scrambling to make the January 15 abstract submission deadline (today), I've just heard that the organising committee have extended the deadline to Jan. 20, midnight Saskatchewan time. Thanks, Martin. ********* CALL FOR ABSTRACTS ************ JANUARY 20, 2002 DEADLINE THE PALYNOLOGY AND MICROPALEONTOLOGY OF BOUNDARIES - A CAP-sponsored special session at the GAC/MAC meeting in Saskatoon, May 26-29, 2002 co-convened by Alwynne Beaudoin and Martin J. Head Boundaries in time and space can leave distinct signatures in the palynological record. Diffuse or sharp, gradual or abrupt, boundaries can tell us much about the response of biotic systems to environmental change in both marine and terrestrial realms. Sponsored by the Canadian Association of Palynologists (CAP), this Special Session explores the identification and characterization of boundaries through palynology and micropaleontology. Dr NORMAN MACLEOD (Keeper of Palaeontology, The Natural History Museum, London UK) is the guest speaker for this session. His talk will be on "Identifying long-term controls on Phanerozoic extinction and diversification patterns" The session is being co-convened by Alwynne Beaudoin (Provincial Museum of Alberta, Edmonton, e-mail: abeaudoi@gpu.srv.ualberta.ca) and Martin J. Head (University of Cambridge, UK, e-mail: mh300@cam.ac.uk). Anyone interested in participating is invited to contact either of the convenors. A symposium volume is planned.
