For an interesting perspective on the removal of "sick" trees from US
forests, see the current issue of Harper's Magazine and the article
"Federal Chain Saw Massacre."  It's a blistering expose of the
politicization of the United States Forest Service.  Turns out Uncle Sam's
boys and girls in green have been more interested in the long green than in
Green Politics.

Gifford Pinchot must be spinning in his grave.
