It is my pleasure to announce the election of Dr. Richard Fortey of The Natural History Museum to be a Fellow of the Royal Society - one of the highest honors that can be bestowed on a scientist. Those of you who know Richard and/or his work know that this award is very well-deserved. Those of you who haven't had the pleasure will be pleased to learn that Richard is a paleontologist in the classical mold, who knows the systematics and biostratigraphy of his chosen groups (arthropods, especially trilobites, and graptolites) as well as their paleobiology. In his "spare" moments, Richard finds time to be an award-winning author of popular books on paleontology and natural history as well as an expert in the systematics of fungi. All in all, a complete natural historian. Congratulations to Richard on behalf of PaleoNet, and a hearty "Good Show!"
