Internet Exercises in Historical Geology Laboratories

Contemporary Publishing Company is a small, innovative publisher of
college lab manuals located in North Carolina.

On March 30, l966, we will publish a new college HISTORICAL GEOLOGY LAB
MANUAL WHICH ALSO CONTAINS INTERNET EXERCISES. The manual covers traditional
topics and also includes more contemporary ones such as PALEOCLIMATOLOGY.
In addition it uses the www to access WEBSITES in museums of natual history
and academic institutions around the globe. Once conntected, students are
"guided" through the homesites to complete exercises in the manual. These
internet exercises are designed to supplement and reinforce exercises
designed for the laboratory. This unigue experience provides a different
medium for teaching concepts and also promotes a better understanding of the
www.

The authors are Robert Gastaldo, Chuck Savrda and Ron Lewis of Auburn
Univesity. All are actively involved in teaching both lectures and
laboratories in historical geology there and have developed this set of
exercises over the past few years. The manual has been extensively field
tested in Auburn teaching laboratories. If you are teaching college
historical labs and are interested in seeing more information, please e-mail
