I would suggest a short, reasoned reply. In my opinion, if an inquiry is sincere, even though it seems far out, it should be taken seriously. I think it is best for paleontology, or any science, to encourage genuine interest, even if it starts from a basis of little background. Perhaps a brief explanation and suggested reading?
