I have recently been informed by John Saunders that the book "Plankton Stratigraphy," edited by H. M. Bolli, J. B. Saunders, and K. Perch-Nielsen, is scheduled to go out of print in the immediate future. Plankton Stratigraphy is the standard reference for planktonic microfossil biostratigraphy. It may be some time before such a comprehensive compendium is available again. Therefore, if you've been putting off buying a copy, don't do it much longer. Paperback copies of the book are conveniently broken into separate calcareous and siliceous volumes (with a chapter on ichthyoliths thrown in for good measure). It's a true classic and, given the advantages of electronic databases, it may be the last book of this kind published in the field of micropaleontology (at least in the traditional sense of the term).
