SEDIMENTARY GEOCHEMIST/PALEOBIOLOGIST/UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, DAVIS The Department of Geology invites applications for a tenure track appointment at the assistant professor level in the field of sedimentary geochemistry/paleobiology. The position will remain open until filled, but may begin as early as July 1, 1996. A Ph.D. at the time of appointment is required. We seek applicants whose research emphasizes the study of both geochemical and biological processes in marine carbonate sedimentary environments. We are particularly interested in individuals who investigate environmental change and biological processes in ancient and modern shallow marine carbonate sediments using geochemical techniques. Such a scientist would contribute to our understanding of global environments, biological evolution, and global geochemical and biogeochemical cycles. The successful applicant will be expected to maintain a vigorous, externally-funded research program and to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Possible teaching responsibilities include courses in stratigraphy/sedimentation, oceanography, paleobiology, or biogeochemistry. The applicant will also be expected to supervise M.S. and Ph.D. students and to serve on departmental and university committees. Send a curriculum vitae, statements of research and teaching interests, and the names, addresses, phone, fax and e-mail addresses of three references to: Jeffrey Mount, Chair, Search Committee, Department of Geology, University of California, Davis, CA, 95616.
