Folks,

Since a couple of you mentioned problems accessing the uk site by
FTP, I will answer Peter back to the list. You must login as anonymous
(and spell it right - I am lousy at spelling). Then you must use your
login, NOT YOUR PASSWORD, as the password. The machine tells you to do
that. For instance, I would type in anonymous and the machine will then
reply something to the effect that guest login is OK and tell me to use my
login for the password. I then type in mahaffy@dordt.edu . If you try
to type in your password the machine will reject your attempt. It
expects a legitimate password. For a dumb machine it is pretty smart,
it rejected both junk and junk@siouxcenter as logins, but
mahaffy@dordt.edu works fine. And now some sysop atr nhm.ac.uk will
wonder who is messing with his machine. Oh well, I have to fix some
Apple IIgs files into a form the UNIX machine at Dordt will read them,
and then zmodem them to Dordt, so when I get to my office I can ftp them
on to the IBM. arghhhh. Don't you love computers, what did we do when
all we had was typewriters.
