Concerning the debate on classification and extiction I think: 1.- Aves are dinosauria in exactly the same way mans are bacteria. Moreover Aves have a long precedence in definition over dinosauria, thus, even in a cladistic way, the correct asumption is to say tath some previously considered dinosaurs are in reality aves. 2.- Paraphiletic groups arent real ok. Monophyletic, poliphyletic and holophyletic (the correct spell for tath cladists call monophyletic) also arent real. Only individuals and systems are real, sets, as taxa are, are mental constructs. Clasifications (and cladifications) dont exists independently from classifiers. 3.- Dinosauria arent extinct, ok, but trilobitomorpha, conodontophorida, pteraspidomorpha etc also arent stinct. Extinction is a biological process. Biological (and physical and chemical) processes are state changes in systems. Taxa (even species) are sets, not systems, and thus can not experience any state change. Strictly speaking only populations (and individuals in another sense) could become extinct. Thus cladistic analisis or even any phylogenetic analisys havent any relevance to extinction analisys. Sorry for the bad engish E. Bernardez
