While I to defer to those same people I ( respectfully) am not convinced
that this is so. Birds are the cladistically direct descendants of the
dinosurs but evolved nearly simultaneously with them. Of course they share
features with the theropod clade and superficially resembele the dinosaurs
but to say that they ARE dinosaurs is being rather presumptious as is
dismissing so called "associations" with regard to the impact scenario simply
because one chooses to disagree with data contrary to his/her own data,
especially if it is from outside of ones discipline i.e Astronomy, Geology,
Geophysics ect. etc. While I do admit to my bias for at least the K-T
scenario, I am by no means, unmoveable. When someone comes up with a better
hypothesis and/or proves the current hypothesis wrong, ( which has not been
done yet) we'll move on. Until then and despite what some may think, my mind
is open. Taking pot shots at ones "science" or professionalism no matter
which side your on is not going to resolve a thing!
