For the record, I don't think he was actually a paleontology major (I
could well be wrong, but what institutions actually offer paleontology
as a major anyways?), but he does have a longstanding interest in
fossils in general and dinosaurs in particular (according to
Newsweek).

P.S. I recently read (in the Dec. 29th issue of _Science_, I think)
that the USGS is likely to get spared the US government's looming axe.
