Hi I'm the Secretary of the Gulf Coast SEPM. Some of you are probably aware that the GCS-SEPM Foundation holds a geological Research Conference the first week of December every year. These conferences are single topic conferences. In the begining the topics were limited to Gulf of Mexico topics but over the years they have taken on a more international flavor. Presently the topics we consider are sedimentary geology with possible Gulf coast applications. I've been told that the conference is considered to be the best of it's kind in the world. The topic for this year's conference is Submarine Fans and Turbidite Systems. The 1995 topic is Salt Sediment and Hydrocarbons. The Executive council of the society is kind of desperately seeking a topic for the 1996 conference. We are also looking for a backlog of future topics. During the Council's meeting on Dec. 4 we will be discussing this problem. I would appreciate any ideas any of you might have for future meetings (also folks to organize them). Unfortunately after today I'll be out of the office most of the time till the meeting, but I will check my e-mail sometime before the meeting. Thanks in advance, Mike ========================================================================= Michael J. Styzen Phone: (504) 588-4308 Shell Offshore Inc. Room: OSS-2920 P.O.
