Neil is absolutely right the problem is in the person that originally posted with the subject. In this case Mark Purnell. Not everyone's reading will send back a confirmation. It is only those who have Pegasus (sp?) or Pine readers. I read on elm and it just won't confirm. It may be possible for the mail readers to be set to refuse to confirm a reading, but there are good reasons for someone to want to know that your message has been received or read.
