Re: paleonet storm shelly deposits

Hi Raul,

The vectis Fm of the Isle of Wight has a number of
coquina horizons composed principally of the bivalve
Filosina. These same storm beds also contain alot of
vertebrate debris. They are currently one of my main
collecting projects.

A couple of good refs:

RADLEY, J. D. & BARKER,M. J. 1998b.
Palaeoenvironmental
analysis of shell beds in the Wealden Group (Lower
Cretaceous) of the Isle of Wight, southern England: an
initial account. Cretaceous Research 19, 489–504.

and in more detail:

JONATHAN D. RADLEY* & MICHAEL J. BARKER. 2000.
Palaeoenvironmental significance of storm coquinas in
a
Lower Cretaceous coastal lagoonal succession (Vectis
Formation, Isle of Wight, southern England). Geol.
Mag. 137 (2), 2000, pp. 193–205.

I have both as pdfs, but i am off on some fieldwork
tomorrow (coincidentally to the same deposits). If you
want the pdfs emialing to you, let me know very soon!

All the best,

Denver.
