Subject:  INA10 Ballot due 1st November 2002:

Dear INA Member,

	As those of you who attended INA9 already know, we received an
unprecedented three (3) invitations to host the next General Meeting in the
fall of 2004.  In alphabetical order by city, these venues and their
proponents are:

	Lyon, France: Emanuela Mattioli

	Lincoln, Nebraska, USA: David Watkins

	Lisbon, Portugal: Mario Cachco

	Although we polled the attendees at INA9, the results were very close and
your Council wishes to get as broad a polling of the membership as possible
before making the final decision. I have been asked by the INA President,
Woody Wise, to act as presiding officer and conduct the poll.

 	The proponents have kindly prepared PowerPoint presentations of their
invitations, which are now posted on the INA web site at:

	Please visit the site and send me by return email (or hard copy if you
wish) your ballot marked with your preference by the deadline, November 1st.
I will tally the ballots and inform Council of the results.  Your ballot
will remain in confidence with me.

	There is also the complication of other meetings of interest to INA members
that have already been scheduled for the late summer-fall of 2004.  If one
of the European venues (either Lyon or Lisbon) is chosen, we will endeavor
to schedule the meeting so that it will be possible for those interested to
make one of more of these meetings back-to-back with INA10.  These meetings
are:

32nd International Geological Congress,
		Florence, Italy, 20-28 August 2004
	8th International Paleoceanography Conference
Biarritz France, 5-10 Sept. 2004
23rd IAS Meeting on Sedimentology,
Coimbra Portugal 15-17 Sept. 2004

We would therefore, like for you to tell us whether you wish to attend any
of these meetings in addition to INA10, and if so, which one(s).  Taking all
of these factors into account, Council will make the final decision and
announce the next General Meeting site as expeditiously as possible.

	Please remember: the Deadline for returning your ballot is: Friday,
November 1st.  Only INA members are eligible to vote.
