Research Assistantship, Spatial Modeling and Analysis of Trace Fossils I have an NSF funded graduate research assistantship available, beginning as early as this coming spring semester. The project involves developing new simulation models for the formation of trace fossils, based on concepts from foraging ecology, landscape ecology, and artificial life. We will also be developing new methods for the spatial description of trace fossils and ichnofabrics. I am looking for a computer literate student with a good background in ecology as well as paleontology. Knowledge of GIS would be a plus. Please have interested students contact me ASAP. -Roy Plotnick Roy E. Plotnick Professor Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences University of Illinois at Chicago 845 W.
