Postdoctoral Position in
Paleobiology
A Geoinformatics Network
(GEON) postdoctoral Research Associate position is available at the
University of Arizona. GEON is an NSF-funded, multi-institutional effort
to create a cyberinfrastructure for the geosciences
(http://www.geoinformaticsnetwork.org/).
The postdoc will be responsible for creating a database of Phanerozoic
paleoenvironmental information, working with other GEON database efforts,
and integrating the database with the ongoing Paleobiology Database
Project
(http://flatpebble.nceas.ucsb.edu/public/).
Position start date is December 2002; initial appointment is for two
years, with the possibility of two subsequent one-year renewals. Starting
annual salary is $34,000 plus benefits. Position requires a Ph.D. and
experience with paleontological database management; GIS skills a
plus.
