The Natural History Museum's Department of Palaeontology is seeking a researcher in Miocene-Pliocene mammals and/or hominoids who can apply their expertise to reconstructing and contextualizing early hominid evolution. Applicants should have broad interests in studying the fossil record, and the potential to contribute to ongoing research in a variety of palaeontological, evolutionary, and global change research programmes.
All applicants must have a Ph.D. (or equivalent) and have published peer-reviewed papers in a human-origins related research area. In addition, all applicants should have demonstrated ability to generate external income and to communicate their science to a wide audience. You should also be a self-motivated researcher, willing to contribute to Museum media and outreach programmes. Relevant post-doctoral research, experience of grant applications, teaching and outreach experience, collections-based research and/or knowledge of curatorial procedures and relevant analytical techniques would be desirable, as are good organisational and team-working/ collaborative skills, and an outward-going personality. This is a tenure-track position with a starting salary in the region of £24,000 p.a.
