Hi, I actally got the message _and_ the attached picture (lucky me). It looks to me as a fenestrate bryozoan colony, a flat, leaf-shaped colony with oval holes in it. Colonies of this shape are usually taken to indicate rather quiet water conditions. Our bryozoan expert, Hans Arne Nakrem, says it's probably a _Protoretepora_, described from the Permian of Australia. He suggests that you contact an australian bryozoan worker, Robin Wass.
