Re: help: reptile scale to bird feathers

Shit works well to remove waste on a daily basis. But feathers are warm,
light and repel water. They serve to help incubate, line nests and provide
lift when airborne. They are also hard to digest and penetrate so provide a
kind of armor. If I were a bird I would prefer feathers to skin when floating
at 4000 feet where its cool cool cool man. Feathers are also hard to penetrate
by insects who will get tangled up trying to bite. The last feature of a
feather
is that it can be ruffled which are a display, warmth and cleaning mechanisms.
Usefulness is as darwinian as any other criteria when selecting selection as
the mechanism as uses "evolve" to meet situations. Climactic or survival-
competition. The ruffle signal may be the method birds use to keep the
flock in
synch. Feathers are so useful as signals and warmth I think we should use them
in headress to denote rank and line coats with tehm to keep warm.
