Dear colleagues, I have some strange-looking microfossils, likely single-chambered foraminiferans, at my disposal. They were derived from insoluble residues of Ordovician (Ashgillian) rocks of North Estonia. Their spherical, laterally compressed test is seemingly composed of organic material. I have not found closely similar fossils in the literature, but indeed, my experience concerning forams is rather poor. So, I would be pleased if anyone common with such fossils could give me some advice on their systematic position etc. Three SEM photos and one from polished section can be reached at http://gaia.gi.ee/users/olle/forams/ Many thanks, Olle Hints --------------------------------- Olle Hints e-mail: olle@gi.ee Institute of Geology Estonia pst. 7, Tallinn, Estonia ---------------------------------
