I would like to announce my new address and professional situation. Following my early retirement from 20+ years with the U.S. Geological Survey in Menlo Park, California, I can now be found at: Dept. of Invertebrate Zoology and Geology California Academy of Sciences Golden Gate Park San Francisco, California 94028-4599 The departmental phone is (415) 750-7080, but you are more likely to reach me at phone (415) 851-1910, fax (415) 851-2310, and e-mail <louiemarin@aol.com> My principal interest remains Cenozoic mollusks of the North Pacific and Arctic Oceans. I left many fascinating projects undone at the USGS, including tropical Eocene mollusks in southern Alaska, pre-Bering Strait Pliocene mollusks in northern Alaska, and Paleocene shells of the Canadian Arctic Islands. I will continue these studies, and now I will also pursue interests in modern and fossil faunas of the eastern Pacific from California to Chile. As a research associate at the California Academy of Sciences my funding relies heavily on outside sources. I couldn't apply for funds from the National Science Foundation or other sources when I worked for the government, but now I can. I look forward to working more closely with those of you with whom I have overlapping interests. If you are interested in a Cenozoic fossil or modern molluscan fauna located somewhere from northern Japan through Kamchatka, Alaska and California to Chile, or in the Arctic Ocean between Bering Strait and the Atlantic, then we have overlapping interests!
