TomDeVrie@aol.com invites comment on the recent string of letters from Dewey McLean concerning the K/T impact debate. What McLean has presented so far has been focused on the "Scandal" side of the issue; there has not been as much attention paid to the actual palaeontology involved. I would like to see more of the latter discussed on this list and less of the former. However, with regard to the manipulations and manoverings claimed by McLean, I fear that this could blow out to palaeontological "Watergate", which is the last thing we need. Why do cases of scientific fraud and deception in science seem to have an unhealthy prevalance in palaeontology? (I'm thinking of Piltdown, Gupta and now K/T impacts).
