We announce a new Masters course in Palaeobiology at the University of Bristol. The course will be taught by a mix of staff from the Departments of Geology (Benton, Briggs, Parkes, Pearson, Unwin) and Biology (Rayner, Wilkinson), and it offers a unique interdisciplinary mix of quantitative macroevolution studies, cladistics, experimental taphonomy, and functional palaeobiology. The course is designed as a strongly research-oriented programme, and it will prepare students for PhD work and other research-oriented careers. The course is designed for geology and biology majors, and it will bring students up to speed in background topics they are not familiar with. The course consists of a range of taught units and a research project, and it is enrolling now, for a start in October 1996.
