In a message dated 96-05-30 03:48:48 EDT, you write: >> NBC's "The Mysterious Origins of Man" sparked heated controversy >>within the academic community when originally broadcast February 25, 1996, >>and will be rebroadcast on Saturday, June 8 (8-9 p.m. ET). Professors of >>science and anthropology from some of the nation's most prestigious >>colleges and universities voiced strong opinions about some of the theories >>in the special, which challenged long-accepted beliefs about man's >>beginnings. How interesting that this waste of EM radiation coincides with the start of the NAPC in Washington DC. It should provide lots of fodder for discussion (to put it lightly). I don't know how much press attention the NAPC will get but the organizers should take full advantage of the opportunity afforded by NBC to refute this trash and to show what _real_ science does! Well, I'm off to the Florida Keys for a short vacation with the wife (read fishing trip in disguise) until the 4th of June. See y'all at the NAPC! Regards, Thomas R.
