LAST CHANCE FOR NOMINATIONS. THE PALEO SOC COULD USE ALL THE NOMINATIONS YOU CAN SEND. EMAIL NOMINATIONS ARE FINE FOR THE DEADLINE, BUT A NOTEBOOK OF SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS SHOULD BE PREPARED IN TIME FOR THE GSA MEETING IN OCTOBER, SHOULD YOUR NOMINEE WIN. Each year the Paleontological Society calls for nominations for its Strimple Award for outstanding achievement by amateurs. An amateur, for the purposes of the award, is someone who does not make her or his living full-time from paleontology. The award may be given for a record of outstanding research and publication, the making of outstanding collections, the safeguarding of unique paleontological resources through varied public service approaches, teaching activities that focus on paleontology, collaborative efforts with others working in paleontology, and similar accomplishments. Anyone, including other amateurs, may make a nomination. Nominators do not have to be members of the Paleontological Society. The nomination should include: 1. the full name, address and phone number (email too if they have it); 2. a certification by the nominator of the amateur status of the nominee; 3. a description of the nominee's achievements in paleontology not to exceed three pages; 4. any number (not restricted to five as published in Priscum, Sept. 1995) of supporting letters and other documentation which will be bound and presented to the awardee. These should be sent by April 15, 1996, to the Chair of the Strimple Award Committee: Jere H.
