It goes without saying these days that the database integration initiatives that the Industry Biostrat Managers are undertaking (and deserve our great congratulations for) are all going to be compatible with existing international standards (PPDM, etc.) and that they will be the subject of great discussion in Washington in June at NAPC. I don't doubt that enough discussion is underway to ensure that all is well in terms of each initiative that any of us undertake will contribute to the ultimate pie in the sky - some internationally searchable grand multidisciplinary, multiorganizational accessible by some multi-integrated web-searcher. But it is probably worth repeating occasionally: lets not continue to invent thousand more small isolated, incompatible data bases in paleo.
