I'll be posting a more extensive piece on the reorganization of PaleoNet following its move to Berkeley here and in the PaleoNet Forum later this week. However, let me take this opportunity to answer a few of the questions that have come up. First, there already is a PaleoNet-Digest option (albeit a somewhat primitive one) and has been for about 6 months. Details of the digest option are covered in the PaleoNet Pages at... http://www.nhm.ac.uk/paleonet/Listservers/PaleoNet.Html ..and they go out in the "Welcome to PaleoNet!" document that everyone receives when they subscribe to PaleoNet. Second, there will be enhanced digest and archive facilities (including searchable archives) for PaleoNet when the move to Berekely is completed. It might take a while to get all the back archives into the new format, but it will happen and I think everyone will find these PaleoNet features to be much more user-friendly. The present PaleoNet archives can be found at... ftp://mailserver.nhm.ac.uk/paleonet/Archives/PaleoNet/ Third, I personally don't see a profound distinction between the PaleoNet listserver and the PaleoNet Pages. They do have different names, so there is no confusion there. However, they are (at least conceptually) connected to one another, as exemplified by the foregoing discussion. Indeed one of the organizing principles behind PaleoNet is the attempt to explore how these different IT structures might be inter-related to the benefit of paleontologists. If the interrelationships aren't as seamless as they might be, it's just a measure of how far we have left to go. More on the PaleoNet move will appear later so "watch this space."
