SVP symposium

     Dear Colleagues,
     
     For those attending SVP in Pittsburgh this year -- a quick plug for 
     the pre-meeting symposium on the origin of chordates, starting 8:30 am 
     in the Topeka Room of the Sheraton Station Square. Thanks to advances 
     by our molecularly-inclined colleagues, this cinderella subject shall 
     now go to the ball. Conveners are Dick Jefferies and Willy Bemis. On a 
     not entirely unrelated theme, my forthcoming book on the subject (in 
     which many of you have expressed a kind interest) should appear in 
     February, with a hardback price of under 25 pounds (UK; US price not 
     yet fixed).
