Dear All: Can anyone tell me how many yards there are in a chain? The reason I ask is because I have a geological cross section produced in 1950 on which the horizontal scale is quoted in chains, and although I have heard of this measurement, and assume it has a nautical origin, I cannot find any conversion table which has it (not even on the internet). Thanks in advance to anyone who knows.
