Hola: The following posting may be of interest to all of you who are interested in expressing your excitement about paleontology to the TV-watching general public! ______________________________________________________________________ Earth Quest is a new half-hour documentary series, being produced for The Discovery Channel, Canada, by Owl TV (Toronto) and Marathon Productions (France), about scientists whose discoveries may help us understand and perhaps better protect our planet. Earth Quest will follow these researchers as they set out on different journeys of discovery - whether it be climbing glaciers, hovering over rain forests or exploring the ocean depths. Earth Quest is not a doom and gloom environmental series, but one that exudes wonder, adventure and hope. We are looking for new and interesting field projects in the natural sciences or environmental studies that are ongoing or planned for the next 12 months (until summer 96) within Canada. The kinds of research projects we would like to film will involve: an expedition, or team project using new and innovative technology / techniques a remote/visually interesting location gaining new knowledge of a previously little-known subject or area physical, mental or emotional challenges on the part of the researchers cross-disciplinary research studying different aspects of a single environment or broader context implications for ecological/environmental concerns To discuss a planned or ongoing project, or for further information, please contact: George Irish Researcher, Earth Quest Tel: (416) 533-9658 Fax: (416) 588-7156 E-mail: irishg@io.org ________________________________________________________________ Regards, Whitey Hagadorn ___________________________________________________________________________ Dept. of Earth Sciences U. of Southern California Los Angeles, CA 90089-0740 email: hagadorn@usc.edu ...surfing waves and the internet... ___________________________________________________________________________
