|can't help noting that both times when loops have been a major problem on |Paleonet, the problem was caused by a full mailbox at the Geological |Survey of Canada. This suggests that the fault lies there. The only "fault" at the GSC is the tendency of their software to bounce messages more often than most, and for more trivial reasons. Individual people (i.e. the recipient of the e-mail) are not responsible for the limitations imposed on them by the administrators of their system, unless you want to scold them for not cleaning out their mail buffer more often. There is potential to cause the same thing to happen on most systems. The easiest solution, probably not requiring a change to different list server software (i.e. *zero* cost), is to simply change the Reply-To: field to something other than the list itself. This will prevent loops from happening. Personally, I prefer the default address to be back to the originator of the message rather than the list anyway. -Andrew macrae@geo.ucalgary.ca home page: "http://geo.ucalgary.ca/~macrae/current_projects.html" Check out the U. of Calgary resident Peregrine falcon: http://ksi.cpsc.ucalgary.ca/falcon
