how to find addresses

Many academic institutions hold electronic phonebooks. I found it most
convenient to search via central phone book servers, e.g. at the University
of Minnesota gopher server or at the Medical Informatics, Univ. Goettingen
(Germany). Alternatively you can access phonebooks through gopher servers
or WWW servers directly at the institution where you expect the colleague.
In such a phonebook you simply type the name of the person and get address,
phone numbers and e-mail address. From the Woods Hole phonebook I got the
following information which should make it possible to contact Peter
Schweitzer and Pat Lohnmann. I know, sometimes it is difficult to find
addresses. If you have access to gopher or WWW you can get the information
much faster than through Paleonet (if not, I think people on Paleonet will
be glad to help). It happened that I knew the phone number of a colleague
before she had the information. She had moved to a new office right on this
day.


                        WHOI email addresses
                        --------------------

WHOI policy does not allow a public listing of staff phone numbers 
and email addresses.  If you wish to send email to a WHOI scientist 
or staff member, use the convention:
        first-initial-last-name@whoi.edu

For example, Dr. Jane Smith's email address would be: 
        jsmith@whoi.edu

Queries sent to the WHOI Help Desk (helpdesk@whoi.edu) will be 
forwarded if possible.
