Some of the best sessions in my experience are a mixture of both
approaches: choose topical subjects, strongly encourage a few cutting-edge
people to serve as chairs and introductory speakers, and fit in those that
answer a general call, some into these topical sessions, others in more
general sessions that suggest themselves.
