Ewan, Some months ago, the PALAEOBOTANY readers had this to say about buying acetate sheets for fossil "peels": In the United States, Kathleen Pigg <atkbp@asuvm.inre.asu.edu> recommends AIN Plastics of Illinois. FAX 312 227-8163. They have several offices, including one at 1704 North Milwaukee Avenue, PO Box 479049, Chicago, IL 60647. Phone 312 227-3400. She recommends the less expensive "Commercial" grade, in 20x50 inch sheets in gauges of .002 (thin) and .003 (thick) inches. In London, Margaret Collinson <uhfb034@vax.rhbnc.ac.uk> recommends A. Warne & Co Ltd., Unit 11, Nelson Trading Estate, 1 The Path, London, SW19 3BL England. Phone + 44 (0) 81 543 3045, fax +44 (0) 81 543 6089. She asks that you mention the University of London Geology Department if you buy from them. If you're really desperate, James Mahaffy <mahaffy@dordt.edu> confesses to good results using plastic "sold for windows etc." at a local hardware store. I think he means the shrinkable plastic that impoverished graduate students are known to tape over windows to keep out the winter drafts. As this question has come up now and again on PALAEOBOTANY, and I have saved the replies as potential FAQ material, I would be grateful for any additional tips.
