			THE GREAT PALAEO-PUBLICATION
			SWAP-SHOP OPENS ITS DOORS YET
				AGAIN
___________________________________________________________________________

Dear All:
I have just placed the 14th thrilling weekly installment of the
palaeo-publications-wanted-or-for-offer list on the NHM ftp site (scuse
missing last week - VE celebrations dont y know - that Vera Lyn has a lot to
answer for). Particular highlight of the present list is Henry Gee who
is looking for a good home for several shelves-full of highly useful
material.

		-----------------------------------------

If you have any duplicate or surplus publications you would like to pass on
to other workers (for example, papers in some field that you no longer work
in), or if you are looking for some publication, post a message
to CommNet@nhm.ac.uk giving a brief description of what you are offering/
looking for (title alone will probably do in most cases) together with your
email and snail mail addresses. You do not need to be a subscriber to
CommNet to post messages to it. I will monitor CommNet and keep an updated
list on the Natural history Museum ftp site, which all can peruse at their
leisure (if you cannot ftp to NHM, then I can email you the list).

		-----------------------------------------

To obtain the list:
Give command:	ftp ftp.nhm.ac.uk

When ftp asks for your Name, type:	anonymous

When ftp asks for your Password, type your full email address (eg: in my case
this is tmcc@geology.glasgow.ac.uk - you do not see anything appear on the
screen).

Type:	ls	(this lists the available files and directories)

Type:	cd paleonet	(this puts you in the Paleonet directory)

Type:	cd Publication_Exchange	(this puts you in the Publication_Exchange
directory)

Type:	ls	(This lists the available files - there are currently two).

Type:	get publ_exchange2	(This gets you a copy of the file
publ_exchange14; it is transferred into your file space under the same
name)

Type:	bye	(Logs you out of ftp).

Alternatively, if you have a net browser like mosaic or netscape, link to
ftp://ftp.nhm.ac.uk/
and follow links > paleonet > Publication_Exchange

Or, as I say, if none of the above works, I can just email it to you.

		-----------------------------------------
Go on, have a look.

Cheers.
