Quantitative Stratigraphic Paleontology

Item Subject: Text_1
As you may know, the Sixth North American Paleontological Convention
(NAPC) will be held at the Smithsonian Museum in Washingto DC on June
9-12, 1996. The Industry Paleontology Managers Group (IPMG) has
proposed a number of applications-oriented symposia at the NAPC.
Stratigraphic paleontologists have often been under represented at the
NAPCs in the past and we hope to address this problem in 1996 by
providing sessions that will attract stratigraphically and
     quantitatively oriented paleontologists.

The Organizing Committee is now requesting that we assemble a
symposium around the proposed topic "Quantitative Stratigraphic
Paleontology". Eight to sixteen volunteered contributions to this
symposium can be accommodated depending on whether it is a half or
     full day long.

We are soliciting participation by those interested and requesting a
tentative title for your contribution by the end of May, 1995. It is
important that we have your title by then so as to demonstrate
sufficient interest for the Organizing Committee to carry the
symposium forward to the Second Circular. We hope you can help make
this a successful symposium and promote the quantitiative approach to
     stratigraphic paleontology.
